Image d'en-tête

The Académie de France à Madrid, the artistic section of the Casa de Velázquez, is one of the leading French artist residencies abroad. Each year, around thirty artists at different stages of their careers are welcomed for residencies lasting from two to eleven months.

The residency reflects the diversity of contemporary creation, spanning visual arts, architecture, music, performing arts, photography, film and video. Through specific partnerships, it also extends to fields such as scenography, creative writing, graphic design, textile arts and curatorial practices. It also supports doctoral research in art, strengthening the link between creation, research and experimentation.

Through its programme of activities and the many projects developed with partners, the Casa de Velázquez actively contributes to the dissemination of contemporary creation in Spain and internationally.

Our residency programs

Throughout the year, the Casa de Velázquez launches calls for applications for its various residency and support programmes. Open to artists with diverse profiles and backgrounds, these residency and mentoring schemes are part of a collective dynamic that encourages exchange, cross-disciplinary dialogue and interaction among artists.
