Focusing on the Iberian Peninsula, the Maghreb and the Atlantic world, the Casa de Velázquez's scientific policy is implemented through the School of Hispanic and Iberian Studies (EHEHI). As a research centre for the humanities and social sciences, the EHEHI runs around fifteen multi-year programmes and a dozen archaeological projects.
Each year, it hosts nearly one hundred researchers in residence and offers an extensive programme of scientific meetings. The Casa de Velázquez has thus established itself as one of the major centres for research in the humanities and social sciences in the Iberian Peninsula, bringing together several hundred guest researchers throughout the year to take part in its activities.
Scientific policy
The scientific policy of the Casa de Velázquez is structured around four areas of research, which are themselves divided into multi-year programmes. In parallel with these areas of research, the Casa de Velázquez supports or is associated to archaeological excavation projects in Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Tunisia.
