The French Academy in Madrid welcomes artists who wish to develop their artistic work in the Iberian Peninsula.
During the year of residence, projects may be developed through a specific practice or from a multidisciplinary perspective. However, to facilitate the processing of applications, artists must declare a dominant artistic discipline at the time of application: drawing, engraving, sculpture, painting, architecture, musical composition, choreography, photography, film, and video.
Candidates selected on the basis of their application will be invited to an audition—in French—in Paris. The list of 12 artists for the year 2026-2027 will be drawn up after deliberation and decision by the Artistic Council, whose composition is detailed in Article 2 of the Internal Regulations of the Casa de Velázquez.
